This past weekend was so special because I got to celebrate my sweet momma’s birthday! In honor of her big day I wanted to dedicate this post to all the amazing mommas out there! Mother’s play such a vital role in their children’s lives and also on their wedding days. I know for me my mom was a huge part in the planning process. Me and my fiancé were long distance so I did most of the planning with my mom! She came to all my vendor meetings with me, helped me pick out my dress, and was the shoulder to lean on when I got stressed. I’m sure many brides out there have amazing mothers helping them out too. So here are five ways you can honor your mom on your wedding day:
1. Let them have a stress free day!
How do you do this? Hire a wedding planner, duh! All kidding aside this is one of the most important aspects of my job. One of my main goals as a planner is to make sure my couples AND their families get to have a stress free day. Hiring a planner allows for your mom to spend the morning getting ready with you and not running around putting out decor and table linens. This is really the best gift you can give her!
2. Have them walk you down the aisle
While tradition may state the father is to walk the bride down the aisle there is no reason your mom can’t too! Maybe both of your parents would love the honor or maybe you just want your mom to fill that role. Whatever you may choose there is no wrong way, it is your big day!
3. Dances are for moms too!
4. Take a special picture for them to keep
Make sure to take a few minutes on your big day to grab some specials shots of you and your mom together. These are memories she will cherish forever and framing these photos after the wedding would make for a great birthday or Christmas present later on! You can get shots of her helping you into your dress, a shot making silly faces, or even something cool like a generational shot of your wedding rings!
5. Incorporate a family heirloom
Does your mom have a necklace that has been passed down from daughter to daughter? Is there a special pair of earrings she loves? Elements like these are a great way to include something special from your mom! Incorporating family heirlooms also cover your something old and something borrowed!
